Partner Country Latvia
We are delighted to welcome Latvia as the partner country of the 9th Library Congress. The guests from the Baltic state will enrich our conference with exciting presentations and discussions – including the panel discussion ‘Together in Turbulent Times’, alongside representatives of the previous partner country, the Czech Republic.
Latvia’s presence at the congress marks the start of a three-year partnership between Germany and Latvia. The aim of this co-operation is to sustainably deepen professional relations between the two library nations. Specialist visits, study trips, joint participation in congresses and analogue and digital events will enable an exchange on current topics and promote mutual understanding of the library landscapes of both countries.
The partnership between the Latvian National Library (Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka, LNB), the Latvian Library Association (Latvijas Bibliotekāru biedrība, LBB) and the German umbrella organisation Bibliothek & Information Deutschland (BID) e.V. was established in April 2025 with the signing of a cooperation agreement in Riga. It will now be brought to life for the first time at the Library Congress.
We look forward to exchanging ideas and spending time together!
